Proofreading includes correcting the following: typos, capitalization errors, inconsistencies, errors in grammar and incorrect punctuation.
Copyediting includes the basics of proofreading, but includes the following: correct faulty spelling, grammar, and punctuation; identify something that isn't clear or doesn't make sense; recognize redundancies and suggest substitute wording; ensure consistency in spelling, numbers, capitalization and names; flag or reword jargon; smooth out confusing sentences and ensure that any citations/notes are complete.
